One of the several interdependent challenges facing future generations is the sustainability of the planetary food supply and distribution system.  As the population grows and incomes rise, as the global climate and its ecosystems change, as biodiversity declines, and as the global economy integrates, the planetary food production, supply and distribution system becomes increasingly important. Complexity science may offer new approaches to address these interdependent challenges.
